Hello everybody, my name is Harry.
I’m an average size boy (about 28 inches at the shoulder) and I need a home!
I came to my foster mum 6 months ago, straight from the track. Unfortunately, when I was about 2 yrs old I broke my leg.
I was out for a long while and when I had to race again, I really didn’t want too, even though my leg had healed perfectly.
When I came here I knew nothing about life outside kennels.
I had only ever lived the life of a racing dog, kennels all week and off to the track in the back of a van on saturday nights.
In the last 6 months my life has changed so much, I can’t even begin to tell you!.
I have learned that humans are fantastic.
They love and cuddle you and take you for walks every day, no matter what!!! AND they have these things called couches – they’re the best thing EVER.
I’m three years old. I’m very easy going.
Very clean in the house – I’ll give a Yip when I need to go out. I eat whatever you give me.
I don’t steal food from the kitchen worktops and I always do what I’m told.
There are two things you should know about me:
1. Because I now know how fantastic humans are, I want to spend all my time with mine. Somebody who’s retired or who works from home would be my ideal match. I don’t need to sit on your knee 24/7, but I don’t like to be left on my own if you’re gone for a long time.
Maybe a home with another greyhound would me wonderful too!
2. Because I was a very successful racer I have a strong prey drive and like to run and catch things.
So, a home with a cat is a non runner (excuse the pun), although I live with two cats here that I hugely respect. (when they’re not moving!). When I got here I wasn’t even trusted off lead with small dogs! BUT I have lived with small dogs for the last 6 months and we all get along just grand. You’ll see me in the video on the morning walk (thats me on the outside paying no attention whatsoever to the small dogs), which I’ve done for 6 months – I don’t even notice small dogs anymore. My foster mum has insisted that I wear my muzzle every time I’m out loose with small dogs, so that I’m completely cool with wearing my muzzle at all times now.
I see a time in the future when I won’t have to wear one.
I’m a very chilled boy, I just want a walk and a couch and a cuddle now and again. Give Hayley and Richard a call if you think I might suit. Xx.
